Hell Hath No Fury Like A Nordstrom (JWN) Scorned
.SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - After pulling Ivanka Trump's clothing and accessories from their stores due to poor sales, most likely due to Nordstrom (JWN) shoppers disdain for President Trump, the Commander-In-Chief fired back on his Twitter pulpit at the upscale fashion retailer for some reason that nobody seems to be able to figure out.
Nordstrom (JWN) Steps Into The Trump Twitter Crucible
"I don't know what he expects us to do," said Blake Nordstrom, Co-President and Director of Nordstrom. "Her products used to sell really well until he pissed off most of our customers. I don't know what's unfair about it? I get that he wants to support his daughter, but this is business. If people don't buy something, we can't afford to keep it on our shelves. Maybe he can sell her stuff in his nearly empty hotels. He's got the same problem we do."
Nordstrom has nearly 80 stores in California alone. Even in states where Trump was victorious, the retailer's locations mostly populate areas that overwhelmingly voted against his candidacy.
Could Walmart (WMT) or Sears (SHLD) Be Next Stop For Ivanka Trump's Products?
With Nordstrom out of the picture, opportunities for Ivanka Trump to sell her products may be dimming. Could other luxury retailers be next to ditch her products to appease consumers?
TrendSmasher reports that WalMart (WMT) and Sears (SHLD) are aggressively pursuing deals with Ivanka Trump to get her products on the shelves of their stores. The only caveat to this strategy is that these mainstream retailers are where brands go to slowly die. In the case of Sears, the company is planning on constructing a giant defibrillator to Frankenstein the retail chain back to life.
Nordstrom (JWN): Fashion Psychologist Weighs In
Dr. Anna Offshore, founder of the Fashion Therapy Institute (FTI), studies the behavior of luxury retail shoppers.
"It's kind of shocking that he didn't see this coming," said Offshore. "Ivanka Trump is a very intelligent and accomplished person, however, there are a lot of people who are unhappy with her father's policies that happen to be Nordstrom customers. This is what I call the 'drag-down effect'. People don't like him, so they punish her. There's also the reality that he rails against Chinese-made products and her really nice designs are made in China. It's a difficult sell in this consumer retail climate."
Debate On Stocktwits Rages On
Shouldn't Twitter (TWTR) be going through the roof?
You may be right - but all retail is toast. Thanks Amazonbama!
How will America be great again if thousands of people lose their jobs? Just kidding. They can work in the coal mines!
I see what you did there! I hear Nordstrom is coming out with a new line of kitten fur coats!
At this point in history nothing would surprise me.
